Imposter?
Am I the only one that thinks Henry Paulson and Super Dave Osborn sound amazingly similar?

Great Day
So, our lab has been getting into the garbage outside a lot recently, and we couldn't get him to stop. We tried scaring him, we tried bribing him. Nothing worked. So, I called up the neighbor who used to keep a few cattle. He no longer has the cattle, but he does still have the electric fence.
I borrowed the power converter and wired up the two plastic garbage cans and sat back to watch. It was classic.

Today
Planted a tree today.
Then I split some wood and made a fire.
Pretty much left the environment at par for the day.

Work? Sure is ...
Well, we're sort of settled now, at least for a bit. Right now I'm a stay at home dad, which is weird. I had all these fantastic ideas about how I'd take over the world via the internet, or at least find some way to make a buck. Oddly enough, this whole parenting thing takes a TON of time, and our child isn't even mobile yet. (insert laughter from EVERY generation of parents before me) I want to believe that once he's mobile it will be just a bit easier because he'll be able to entertain himself, but somehow I'm a bit doubtful (insert more laughter from generations of parents that have gone before).
In the end, Chi is worth every minute. I'm sure I'm just beginning to understand the joys and pains of this whole thing. It shall be interesting ... maybe I'll write a book?

New Chapter
We finally made the move out of California. It was REALLY difficult to leave, but it's done. We've moved back to the Pacific NW and are ready to begin our next adventure. First, however, we'll be heading to Cape Cod. It's a hard life, but I guess we'll have to live it.

Family Photo
We made it up to camp this past weekend and it was great. I crutched my bad self way out to this creek with the girls' class that Krista has been teaching all year. That's where we snapped this shot.
Life is good even when you have a blown Achille's tendon.
Peace to all of you.

Under 10
First - KRISTA PASSED HER COMPREHENSIVE EXAMS!!! SO AWESOME. We're on our way to the next stage. God willing she'll match in late February.
In other news ...
We're now under 10 weeks before we get to meet our youngster.
We're excited.
We're nervous.
We've got diapers.
We've got a crib.
Malachi is already having a pretty profound effect on our lives and he's not even here yet.
So strange. So good.

New car(s)
We bought a new Ford Escape Monday before last. Then we took it back and bought a Subaru Outback. I'll tell you what, we got a MUCH better deal on the Subaru when we pulled up in the Escape and said ... "We got a GREAT deal on this Escape, but we'll take an Outback with less miles if you can beat the price."
Well, Subaru beat the price, and did it with a lower mile vehicle! So, good.
We hope and pray that it will be a safe, long-lasting family car.
And it looks pretty good too.

Ready?
car seat - check
booster seat - check
crib - check
you'd think this would make us more ready.
not really.

the saga
Krista and I have not had so much luck when it comes to cars over the course of our marriage. We're in the process of losing my Maxima, which is sad. There are a lot of great memories in that car, but we need one that doesn't randomly die out on the freeway (only a minor problem on LA freeways).
Right now our plan is to one-car-it until the baby comes! Once that happens Krista won't need to jet around too much ... at least not for awhile.
We love a challenge!

happening
It looks like my Nissan is dead.
Krista and I are having a baby boy.
It should be unbelievably clear which one I'm more excited about.

future
It seems there's some confusion out there ...
Krista and I are not scheduled to move anywhere at any time yet. We MIGHT be moving when and if Krista gets accepted to an internship. If she does, then we'll either be moving to Spokane or staying in So. Cal. Either way, we won't know anything until March.
Regardless of what happens, we will not be going anywhere until late August/early September.
Questions? Feel free to comment.

Back to it.
Well, it's been a long break, but it's time to jump back into this blog thing. Instead of rehashing the last bunch of months, I think I'll just start here.
1. Krista and I are having a boy in April. Yes, we know his name. Sure, I might tell you. Then again ... it may already be posted on Krista's blog. Who knows?
2. A car shot off the road by our church and almost went straight into the sanctuary. Luckily there was this really tiny tree that stopped it.
3. I'm back in classes ... sweet. I'm back in classes right now as a matter of fact.
4. Brother Rob and sister in law Kate are still in Iraq. We're still praying for and thinking of them.
More to follow.
oh ... and happy new year.
